“Can future workspaces be multifunctional to support both our professional and personal life?” Based on this idea, we designed a booth of the future of workspace at WORKSPACE Shanghai, an event for corporate audiences and designers.
To transform the traditional centralized workspace, we integrated art installations into our hybrid model that are made by multidisciplinary artist Arina Apostolova whose works focus on architecture and environmental themes. Her art installations depict 4 different scenes: city, forest, canyon, and sea that enrich people’s life by forming a diverse environment that is also beneficial for their physical and mental wellness. People are offered a certain level of privacy in each “themed space”, but the overall natural flow configuration also facilitates communication and greater engagement in collective activities.
Environment sustainability is also at the center of our design. This trend has been pushed further in the architecture and interior design industries due to the pandemic. We decided to use XstrawDinary, a green material made from agricultural by-product straw that helps to greatly reduce overlogging and air pollution. The economical and natural aesthetic features of the material allow us to ensure the quality of user experience by making a balance between appearance and functionality and complement the holistic concept of sustainable development that we have been striving for through our design.
