It is a great challenge to create an inspiring R&D office for the company with rich history in one of the global key cities. But you take it to another level when you help to develop the working environment in the new area with rising business opportunities.

To make it happen, you have to understand both: attitude and key concepts of your client and the local customs – the greatest result is achieved by merging those 2 elements. Our designers have already had very good understanding of Boston Scientific’s corporate culture and the vision they share with the world. The first thing to do was to learn more about our new project location: Chengdu.

Chengdu is becoming again one of the most important cities on the Asian map. Originally one of the Silk Road’s starting point it serves as the major hub for the newly established by Chinese government Belt and Road Initiative. It is a place where the past mixes with present and the future.

This environment, full of contrasts, rich ancient history and technological vision became the key inspiration for the project. Futuristic and technological reception area is mixed with traditional furnitures; reflective and bright surfaces cut through the dark stone traditional pavement of pantry area. Modern, multifunctional project room is equipped with desks made of solid wood and the carpet with coral infills in the office area is balanced by cool graphics on the walls.

The entire design area is divided into distinctive functions: project rooms, training rooms, open office area, showroom corridor, pantry and reception. To express the concept, all of those functions are separated with maximum transparency in mind, by using high quality double glazed partitions, which partly can be opened, hence let the end users to mix the functions or change the way they use them.
